Director Sam Raimi took a brief detour into the world of character drama with A Simple Plan (1998). The late Bill Paxton stars as Hank, one of the only college educated men living in a small working class Minnesota town, whose pregnant wife (Bridget Fonda) is due to give birth any day now. One day, Hank accompanies his dim-witted older brother Jacob (Billy Bob Thornton) and Jacob's even dimmer-witted buddy Lou (Brent Briscoe) on a hunting trip. While chasing a fox deep into the woods, Jacob and Lou stumble upon a crashed plane containing a duffle bag with a million dollars in cash. The three men decide to keep the money but not spend any of it until they are certain that whomever the money belongs to doesn't come looking for it. Of course, nothing goes according to this simple plan of theirs, not least of which is the in-fighting amongst the brothers and Lou over who gets to house the money. Things take an even darker turn when an FBI agent calling himself Baxter (Gary Cole) turns up looking for the money. By this point in time, whether he's actually who he says he is or just an opportunist looking to wrestle the money away from three inexperienced criminals, the writing is on the wall for everyone involved! Sam Raimi's films aren't well known for their nudity, but this one opens with a very pregnant Bridget Fonda in the bathroom wearing an open bathrobe that nicely shows off her breasts! Looks like you might be concocting a simple plan of your own!
