As we all wait for the second season of Netflix's Bridgerton, some stories have been making headlines about how the show is made. Seeing as how the thing people love most about the show is all of the sex and nudity, it only makes sense that some of the series' stars are teasing behind-the-scenes info on how the steamy scenes are made. They spilled the Regency Era tea on the show's sex scenes. What is the secret? Well, they use a couple of "toys".
According to series star Jonathan Bailey, they use an intimacy coordinator and a few behind-the-scenes tools to make these sex scenes happen. He told The Telegraph: “It’s amazing how that whole industry has just come on, even in a year. There are new tricks to the trade [like] little cushions, and it’s amazing what you can do with a half-inflated netball." A BALL?! Oh my! That is really creative.
There's more. Bailey added the rules to filming a sex scene when he said: “If there are two people doing a sex scene, the rule is they must have three barriers separating them. And there are certain acts where a half-inflated netball can allow for movement without having to connect physically.” He said that things can get really funny on set during these scenes which makes sense when you're essentially humping a deflated ball or a cushion.
It's very interesting to learn about these tricks of the trade because I honestly would have never guessed they use deflated gym equipment. The more we know! Does knowing how they do it make it any less sexy? Absolutely not! If anything, I love having this bit of trivia and imagining these nude actors acting as hard as they can to make us hard...with the help of some toys.
