Review

Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber (2005) is a made-for-TV movie. It's important we get that out of the way first, not because this fact erodes the quality of the picture, but quite the opposite. The film is fun and funny, but it's not skinful. That said, it's still quite the treat to watch Jennifer Love Hewitt, as the San Francisco social climber of the title, shake her moneymakers in black, lacy under-things as the credits roll. It's almost cruel, because no one will pay attention to the talented cast and crew responsible for this satire. Another plus is Canadian cutie Stefanie von Pfetten, as one of Jennifer's rivals, both in the dramatic sense and in terms of beauty, which she almost shares on the massage table. Audiences may not socially climb after seeing this, but their blood pressure will go through the roof!
