No stranger to controversy, Danish director Lars von Trier is one of the biggest proponents of nudity working today. Nearly every film he makes features some flesh, and to celebrate his 58th birthday today, we're looking at the best nude scene from across his entire filmography!

His second feature length film was the 1984 thriller The Element of Crime, which featured full nudity from Burmese beauty Me Me Lai!

It was a long wait until his next film with nudity, but he came back with a vengeance with 1996's Breaking the Waves, featuring some fantastic full frontal from Emily Watson!

One of the strangest films in his entire oeuvre is the 1998 "comedy" The Idiots, where a group of people pretend to be intellectually disabled while secluded in a suburban cottage. As offensive as it sounds, it does feature some phenomenal full frontal courtesy of Louise Mieritz and Trine Michelsen!Mieritz

Von Trier co-directed the pseudo-documentary The Five Obstructions five years later, poking fun at himself and his "Dogme 95" set of restrictions. It does feature a terrific topless scene from Jacqueline Arenal, which only adds to the almost masturbatory nature of the film.Arenal

The second film in a never completed trilogy, 2005's Manderlay continued the story from 2003's Dogville, replacing Nicole Kidman with Bryce Dallas Howard, which was a great move because it gave us her only nude scene to date!Howard

His most recent trilogy began with 2009's Antichrist, continued in 2011's Melancholia, and concluded with this year's Nymphomaniac Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. This has been his most flesh-filled odyssey yet, bringing us the nude debuts of Kirsten Dunst, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Mia Goth, Stacy Martin, and giving us a lot of looks at the lovely Charlotte Gainsbourg!Gainsbourg
