Glenn Close and Michael Douglas Added A Touch Of Humor To The Steam

Whenever someone mentions the Michael Douglas and Glenn Close filmFatal Attraction, I also try to do my best to not think about bunnies, but instead focus on the pretty great sex scenes. While I’m sure we mostly remember them for being super steamy, did you know there was a bit of comedy tossed in to one of the more famous scenes?

The show EW Reunitesgot Douglas and Close together after all these years to talk about what all went in to making such a memorable sex scene.

“Sex in movies is always a delicate line. Glenn was raring to go,” Douglas, whose family man character, Dan, has an affair with Close’s publishing company editor, Alex, reveals. “We got up there on the kitchen table, and she came up with this great idea with the sink, with the water running and making herself wet, which is always good.”

“The only thing I threw in, I remember, was this moment where we were going at it, [and since]I like comic relief, I think you need a second [of it],and there’s a second where I had my pants down [while] carrying Glenn, then tripping, and then having to make this run for the bed,” he continues. “It kind of let the audience relax for a second.”

Close chimed in to express her favorite part about this scene was the humorous and rather realistic approach to the sex.

“I like it because it’s not terribly romantic,” she adds. “It’s very real and kind of desperate and funny.”

You know, I’m going to have to dig out my copy of Fatal Attraction now and re-watch the entire movie, with a focus on the sex scenes of course. I want to see if anything changes after reading about their attempts to add some friskiness to scenes. Humor or not, Fatal Attraction still has some of the most memorable sex scenes on film.
