Kathy Valentine is an Austin, Texas native who is most famous for being a part of the most successful girl band of all time, The Go-Gos! She wrote so many of their iconic songs including "Vacation" and "Head Over Heels." Yeah, she's important. She was a punk guitarist and vocalist who joined the band after they got rid of their old bassist due to differences. They asked her to fill in with only days' notice and Kathy famously took a few stimulating substances and learned all of the band's music last minute. They had asked her to play bass which was not her primary instrument. She essentially learned both bass and their music in less than a week for their now infamous 1980 Whiskey A-Go-Go New Year's Eve show. The band was so impressed, naturally, that they invited her to join. She was with the band until they all broke up in 1985, touring the world and becoming an unstoppable force in the 1980s rock and pop. Kathy has since continued playing music and playing in The Go-Go's reunion tours, but she has also done a little bit of acting. She played Jan in the 2018 film The Transcendents. She was transcending in the documentary about the band The Go-Gos, especially when they showed the babes all in their undies for a magazine cover. Not just any magazine cover.
