Whatever It Takes For Melanie Lynskey To Get Nude, We're On Board
It is not all that surprising to draw inspiration from someone in the same field as you. Athletes do it all the time, writers love other writers, and I’m sure there is someone in your workplace that you can draw inspiration from (I know I can). So, it didn’t come as much of a shock to me to find out that Melanie Lynskey drew motivation to shed her clothes inTogethernessfrom Lena Dunham and her continued nudity on Girls.
While it doesn’t appear that Melanie Lynskey and Lena Dunham have ever met in real life (or on screen) Melanie Lynskey found some truth and honesty in Lena Dunham’s being nude for more than just sex or bathing. Or Lynskey told a reporter for Bustle:
"A male friend said to me one time about Lena Dunham: 'Every time she takes her clothes off on her show she gets sexier to me,'" she says, as we chat on an early morning of Sundance Film Festival. "There is backlash every time she times her takes her clothes off, because people are disgusting. But she's like, 'F*ck it. I have a great body. I have sex. This is what it looks like when you're naked.' It's so exciting to know that she's not just sitting back and being like 'Well, I won't show it anymore.'"
"You don't need to be as awesome and naked [as Lena Dunham] all the time, but I love that she does that. I tried to do that on Togetherness. They had to beg me to keep my top on," the New Zealand-born actor jokes."I'd be like, 'So, now? Now?' she says, miming lifting up her shirt.
While it's great that Melanie Lynskey found some strength from Lena Duhnam to be topless, she should know that she looks great without any clothes on. That should be reason enough to want to show it off. But hey, inspiration can come from the strangest of things and the strangest of people so, whatever works for Melanie Lynskey to get naked works for me.
