akerman no inferno

Not much of a surprise here...in case you've forgotten (and that's understandable, it's been a while), Malin Akerman was supposed to star in a Linda Lovelace biopic called "Inferno" that was supposed to compete with Amanda Seyfried's Lovelace at the box office. But now that Lovelace has wrapped shooting and is being readied for release later this year, and Inferno hasn't even gotten past the planning stages, it looks like Inferno has cooled to nothing but ashes. Even Malin says so:

"I don't know if that's even going to go," she told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this week. "Last I heard, which was just before Christmas, we were supposed to start shooting in March, and now it's April."

"It's been one of those doomed films that I absolutely love and totally believe in, I love the script[But] it's a big one to take a chance on because it's really some heavy content," she adds. " I would hope and love for it to go, but now this other movie is coming on that Amanda Seyfried did, and I kind of feel like, 'Shit, we should have been on that, we should have done it."

Sorry, Malin, but considering Lovelace is being described as "more American Pie than Lars Von Trier" and you can't seem to mention Inferno without telling us how "dark" and "heavy" it is, we're actually kind of...glad that Lovelace came out ahead in the end.

But don't worry about the indomitable Ms. Akerman...according to IMDB she has four movies currently in post-production, two preparing to shoot, and two more in development. She'll be fine.
