Staff Picks: Tearjerkers

Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week, we cover a classic: tearjerkers!

What is a tearjerker? It is a drama that seems specifically designed to make you cry - sometimes more than once. These movies are known for making their audiences cry. These tearjerkers are special because they also include scenes worth jerkin' off too. Wipe away your tears and save the tissues for your pants with these staff picks:

Terms of Endearment

This 1983 film from James Brooks gives us everything, the highs and lows of life. While this film certainly dives into human suffering, it does so with a lot of heart and laughter. I find that that tends to bring even more tears. Terms of Endearment is a testament to that as we follow the love between and mom and daughter who deals with all of life's hardships: cancer, divorce, affairs, death. They are put through the ringer!

Shirley MacLaine stars and while there isn't a ton of nudity in this PG film, she does bend forward and show a lot of boobage. In fact, her nips pop out of her dress as she makes out with Jack Nicholson in the water.

Other People

Again with the comedies that make you laugh and cry, Other People is a modern movie that you should really see. Former SNL headwriter Chris Kelly wrote and directed this flick about a comedy writer played by Jesse Plemons who returns home after his career and relationship both tank. When he is home, he learns that his mother is dying of cancer and she only has a year to live. Ooof, my heart!

His mom is played by Molly Shannon, so you know that this is a good role. Molly is hilarious and she is a great actress - plus hot? Okay, she goes nude, but it is a body double. That body double has a perky peach!

Call Me By Your Name

This award-winning film might be thought of as a "gay movie" but there is female nudity. It is also a really good movie. From the sweeping scenes of Italian landscapes to the sweet and tragic love story at the center of the film, Call Me By Your Name will definitely leave you teary at the end. Don't believe me? Well, when you check out Esther Garrel's breasts and bush you might be more inclined to take my word for it.

Titanic

And now for a classic! James Cameron's Titanic has everything. Action, adventure, history, love, and sex. It also has a lot of tragedy - obviously. The Titanic sank and it's sad. It gets especially sad when Rose and Jack do not end up together despite trying to hold on for dear life in the cold ocean waters.

Staff Picks: Tearjerkers

While it is often debated that there was certainly room enough for both of them on that piece of wood that Rose was clinging to at the end, I can't deny that it makes a classic tearjerking story when she tells him that she'll never let go (and then she does). Part of what makes this so emotional is that we came to really root for their love. Rooting for their love came easy after we saw Kate Winslet's rosebuds.

The Notebook

You have a cold and icy heart if you didn't cry during The Notebook. It's sweet! It's sad! Rachel McAdams is hot in it! How do you not get swept up in this story? An old man tells his alzheimers' stricken wife their love story every day so that she doesn't forget him. We see their love story unfold as he tells it to her and part of that love story includes sex scenes with Rachel McAdams. A lot of people forget that this movie has nudity, but it definitely does.
