Review

If the R rated thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992) taught audiences anything, it’s not to hire an insanely hot (and just plain insane) chick to watch your kids. If she’s anything like Mrs. Mott (Rebecca De Mornay), she’ll put a wedge between a happily married man (Matt McCoy) and his wife (Annabella Sciorra) before you can say Mindy Mann. Yet in the TV movie The Babysitter’s Seduction (1995), it’s hard to discern if curly-haired babysitter Michelle Winston (Keri Russell) is up to no good — or if she’s being framed by big daddy Bill Bartrand (Stephen Collins) whose wife Sally (Dawn Lambing) turns up dead. Good thing Detective Kate Jacobs (Phylicia Rashad) is on the case to solve the murder mystery. Of course, you don’t need to be a professional investi-bater to deduce the fact that Ms. Russell is sexy when she struts her stuff in an itsy bitsy teeny weeny fuchsia-colored bikini! We can hardly blame the randy widower for seducing her. Indeed, the babysitter fantasy is a popular one for men all around the world. Perhaps that’s why the big and small screens have been flooded with so many babysitter-themed titles — from Weekend with The Babysitter (1970) and Wanted: Babysitter (1975) to The Babysitters (2007) and Babysitter Massacre (2013) with the German crime drama Die Babysitterin – Schreie aus dem Kinderzimmer in between. Even though these provocative productions showcase explicit nudity, seeing the Felicity (1998-2002) star flash her flesh in The Babysitter’s Seduction is pure felicity!
