Oliver Stone put together a run of films from the mid-80s to the mid-90s that would make any director envious. From Platoon to Natural Born Killers, Stone crafted six masterpieces in a row, including 1991's The Doors. Even more impressive is that this was the first of two amazing films from Stone in that year, with JFK following this flick in December, 1991.

One of the earliest Blu-ray releases, the film hasn't had much TLC in the decade-plus since, but now it's getting a deluxe 4K restoration, including a "Final Cut"edit of the film supervised by Stone.According to a press release about the upcoming 4K Blu-ray release, Stone had this to say about his upcoming release of one of his most celebrated films...

"This brand new 4K restoration of THE DOORS in Dolby Atmos will provide far greater overall clarity and dimension for the audience. During the many concert sequences, the sound now fills the auditorium above the audience, behind it, and all points in between. I wanted the film to be as immersive as possible to a real 60s Doors experience" said director Oliver Stone. "Additionally, I've made one cut of 3 minutes to a scene I thought was superfluous to the ending, which helps close out the film in a more powerful way."

This will mark the first time Stone has tinkered with his films, with alternate cuts of everything from Alexander toJFK getting released over the last decade. The Doors will be available to purchase on 4K Blu-ray on July 22.
