Review

By the start of the ’70s, even the major studios were willing to invest in adaptations of notorious “dirty books.” Rising young stars were also happy to show up in decadent displays like Tropic of Cancer (1970), a take on Henry Miller’s classic novel from the 1930's. Rip Torn--playing Miller--and his mostly American expat pals hang around Paris and try to get laid. These libertine lotharios aren't all that rich, so there's a certain frat boy charm to their sleeping on each other's couches and trying to save a dime where they can. They’re also interested in art and finding the occasional meal, but they’ve got their priorities straight. So it's straight to boning whenever they get the chance! Granted, he wrote the book so he might be lying about how much he got laid. Still, this one is hot like the tropics thanks to all the lovely women Rip takes a dip in! Pay no attention to the trim of Gisele Grimm, since that one's a body double. But Ellen Burstyn--billed here as “Ellen McRae”--helps to keep a lot of things straight by burstyn out of her clothes! Miss Burstyn had us bustin when she lied on the bed, boobs out, just staring at the author! He also gets freaky with Dominique Delpierre, letting us see her DD's as she disrobes her globes. Those titties are something to write home about! The massive mams of Magali Noël provide some local flavor while keeping a virtual Eiffel Tower tearing out of Torn’s pants. But our favorite flash of rack came from Sheila Steafel, who does some topless ballet dancing in a tutu. Yes sir, we can't get enough of all the cans in Tropic of Cancer!
