Vegas Vacation (1997)

No Nudity

Review

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas — unless it’s in the uproarious romp Vegas Vacation (1997). The trippy flick follows National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983), National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985), and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989). This time around, the Griswold family is headed west after Clark (Chevy Chase) gets a big bonus with money to burn. He and wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo) expect to have a good time but it wouldn’t be funny if everything went as planned. In fact, Sin City’s singing attraction Wayne Newton hits on Ellen. But with her ample cleavage, can you blame him? If that’s not enough to deal with, the Griswold’s son Rusty (Ethan Embry) gets involved with some high rollers, while his sister Audrey (Marisol Nichols) becomes an exotic dancer! Of course, this comes as no surprise considering the pokies she shows early in the movie. The film also includes Julia Sweeney, Sid Caesar, and Siegfried & Roy. Plus, Randy Quaid and Miriam Flynn return as the cousins, as does Christie Brinkley as the sexy stunner in the red Ferrari. Even though she doesn’t doff her duds, the hot blonde flaunts her fab figure in a skintight number. Alas, the amusing movie was nominated for “The Sequel Nobody Was Clamoring For” at the 1997 Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. It lost, but the comely cast receives a statuette in Mr. Skin’s pants! Shot at the Mirage, the MGM Grand Las Vegas, the Klondike, and the Neon Museum, this flick will give you a winning hand!
