Le feu follet (1994)

More than thirty years after Louis Malle dazzled French critics with his harrowing depiction of a suicidal poet, director Gérard Vergez tries his hand at a made-for-television remake. Le Feu follet (1994) stars Laurent Malet as poet Alain Rebours, modeled after the famous French surrealist Jacques Rigaut. Addicted to drugs and tormented by feelings of inadequacy, the sensitive scribe eventually succumbs to his lingering death wish. Before he goes, however, he manages to get in some parting kicks with the alluring Valérie Stroh. Stroh flashes the goods with gusto before death doeth take her bummer of a boyfriend.
