The Intervention (2016) takes four seemingly functional couples (except not really, of course) and puts them in a summer home outside Savannah, where they've planned to intervene in their friends increasingly horrific marriage. Written and directed by Clea DuVall, who also stars in the movie as Jessie, The Intervention is quick to show 1) marriage interventions are rarely a good idea and 2) no one's relationship is perfect, no matter how great it seems. Clea plays a lesbian who has been with Sarah (Natasha Lyonne) for years but has a wandering eye for the young girls (who can blame her?) while Annie (Melanie Lynskey) basically refuses to finally tie the knot with her fiancé. Jack gets some action over the weekend with far-too-young Lola (curly-haired Alia Shawkat), who dons her lingerie on the trip, while Ruby (How I Met Your Mother's Cobie Smulders) and Peter make up the formidable and spiteful couple, though they seem to patch it together just enough for Cobie to strip down to her underwear for an almost-sex scene! There's no more nudity beyond some clothed lesbian action between Natasha and Clea, but you'll still want to intervene with your zipper!
