Wannabe (2017)

In this day and age, it's ALL about your social media presence...  Well for some it's not just their world, it's the ENTIRE world and if you're youtube channel isn't getting millions of views, you might as well just curl up into a corner and die!  This unique short film from Jannis Lenz, takes a fascinating approach to presenting a young girl's online world and her social media presence by actually turning the whole thing into a cross media project, shooting the film as a normal flick with not a particularly lengthy runtime of 30 minutes, and combining it with a real life Youtube channel "Coco Channel", where the star of the movie, Coco (Anna Suk) has put up real videos that circle back around to the film itself!  SO as she's building a fictitious world for the character in her film, she's also blurring the lines of film, real-life, fiction, and the driving realism of influencer culture online...  So it might just wrinkle your brain a bit when you toggle between the youtube channel (www.youtube.com/cocochannel9) and the actual movie because it paints a pretty realistic portrait of how important it is to be seen online.  Are you really a star or are you just a Wannabe???  Well, the realest thing in this movie is the scalding hot star Anna Suk, who shows us her perfect rack while taking selfies in the bathroom mirror and we don't know if we should go the her IMDB page, click on the little button in the corner to subscribe, or drop our pants and shut the bathroom door!  Enjoy the back and forth of the film and the youtube vids, and enjoy the "back and forth" your hand is going to be doing to this Nude-Comer debut!
