Stromboli (2022)

Based on the book by Saskia Noort, this Dutch drama tells the story of Sara (Elise Schaap), a recently divorced mother known to treat her traumatic past with alcohol who decides to jump aboard a ship to Stromboli, the active volcanic island off the coast of Italy. Sara continues to suffer from the consequences of her own actions until Jens (Christian Hillborg), a New Age healing guru entices her to join a retreat called “From Fear To Love” for those struggling to move past sudden life changes and loss. It’s there she connects with Hans (Pieter Embrechts), a fellow Dutch person whose own dark thoughts seem to get the better of him when he pulls away from Elise and her enigmatic rack mid bang sesh, but we do get one more peek at Elise’s peaks about forty-two minutes in. Stromboli will have you ready to erupt!
