Lost in the Night (2023)

A Mexican thriller inspired by real events in 2014, this Amat Escalante film follows Emiliano (Juan Daniel Garcia Treviño), who’s mother Paloma (Vicky Araico) is an activist protesting against a proposed mining development in their small town. She goes missing one night, and three years later Emiliano is still trying to track down those responsible with the help of his girlfriend Jazmin (Mafer Osio), who he fingers while lying against a rock at one point. The clues he’s gathered lead him to the wealthy Aldama family, so he gets a job as their handyman in order to poke around. Living in the house is Mónica (Ester Expósito), the daughter of singer Carmen Aldama (Bárbara Mori) from her first marriage. While the two are on a boat, Ester bathes her impressive sucksacks in the sun before being told to put her bikini top back on. Forget uncovering the truth, we just want Ester to uncover her cans again!
